KEFALONIA WORKSHOPS

THE DAILY GRIND

What you can expect each day to be like

The eyes have it...

OF COURSE ITS NOT A GRIND!

It will be everything but a grind... As you have probably already guessed, we want you to have a great time as well as seriously improving your photographic skills during our workshops.

SO - WHAT IS THE DAILY ROUTINE GOING TO BE LIKE?

To start with, routine is probably not the correct word as each day will be pretty different. Each day will have a focus based on your expressed wants and needs, but part from that, we are pretty flexible on our approach. As you've probably already discovered, we like to do things somewhat differently, as we find we get far better result and, you will get far more from it and have a lovely time.

Jasmine - The VillaIt is just as important to us that you really enjoy yourself while your with us as well as get the learning and skills that you are looking for…

Having said all of that - Here is an outline of what you can expect each day to roughly go. With the exception of one of the days, which is an open assignment based day (details towards the end of this page). This is what you expect. Remember, nothing is mandatory and we will always tailor your workshop experience to you and your expectations as much as we are able.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

Before sun rise we will head off to a number of relatively local destinations to capture the beauty of the rising sun over the coast and mountains of Kefalonia and the wildlife that it awakes to herald in a new day. For those early birds only, the light is stunning at this time of the day as the light descends down the side of the mountains towards the low-lands. You can expect to see the goats and cattle being herded with eagles beginning their soaring as the land starts to heat up and give off its rising air currents. We can also head down to Argostoli's (the capitol) port to people watch as the dock side market awakens and the days activities begins.

For those left, we will prepare for the mornings assignment, plan the route and meeting points. The reason that we don't always head off as a single group, is if you happen to see something on route that you would really like to stop and focus some of your time on. You can freely do this without impacting on the others in the group. Once again, the workshop is about what you want and we want to give you every opportunity to explore that.

Generally, we will return from the morning assignment between 1-2pm. Except for the full day assignment towards the end of the week and the open assignment at the end of the week. for about an hour we will have a review of the assignment, Q&A's and no-doubt enthusiastic discussions.

TO SIESTA OR NOT TO SIESTA

That is the question...

Between 3pm and 5pm is open time. You can choose to join the locals and have a siesta (especially if you were on dawn patrol), you can head off and do your own thing for a couple of hours, or if you have specific points that you would like addressed - either from the mornings assignment or points in general, we can use this time to give you a greater degree of personal attention.

Mandarin Villa At 5pm we will all team up for the evening assignment - This again is dependant on what it is you are looking to get out of the workshop. But, I think it's pretty safe to say that once you see the sunsets we get there, you'll be snapping away to capture the constantly changing and constantly captivating colours fired across the skies and landscapes on offer.

7pm (ish) is our next rendezvous time where we will either fire up the up the barbecue by the pool with some of the local vintages in our glasses, or head down to one of the local tavernas (which off season are opened just for you!). There is one exception, when we will again head off to Argostoli to people watch, soak up the atmosphere and snap away. We will be focusing on the contrast between the local activity by the port and on the other side of the capitol, one of the two 'more' touristy locations. As well as sampling some of the local quisine by the waters side.

As the Day Ends

When not out and about during the evening, we can use the time to cover the days activities, any issues or points that need addressing - and when we are at the poolside, we can look at our workflow and post processing

Manderin Villa Kitchentechniques with demonstrations and assignments. Then as the evening fades and the local liquid assets start to take effect, we can have a chat about the following day and what we are going to get up to.

So there you go - For those that needed to get an idea of how a day might go - That's pretty close. It is of course very variable depending on the wants of the workshop participants
